HUNTINGDON, Pa. – CUA's 2011 season came to an end
on Saturday afternoon after the Cardinals fell to Susquehanna 3-0
in the Landmark Conference Tournament semifinals on the campus of
Juniata. The Crusaders won each game by identical 25-22
scores. CUA finishes the year with a 25-9 record.
CUA, which has played undermanned for the last month due to a rash
of injuries, was led by Claudia Jean, who posted a double-double
with 13 digs and 12 kills. Kelly Crimmins (11) and Katie
Chefalas (10) also finished in double figures in kills, while
Kristina Purcell totaled 26 digs.
Lucia Irazabal handed out a team-high 35 assists to go along with
nine digs, and Chefalas added five digs for the Cardinals.
The Crusaders, who advance to Saturday's conference
championship match vs. Juniata, were led by Emily Carson with 22
kills and 10 digs, while Natalie Cicioni added 12 kills.
Julia Caruso handed out 47 assists and totaled seven digs.
