Cardinals close out unbeaten fall season with 6-1 win

WASHINGTON – CUA completed an unbeaten fall season with a 6-1 win over York on Tuesday afternoon at home.  The Cardinals won five of six singles matches and the only doubles match that was completed.  With the win CUA closes out the fall with a perfect 4-0 record.

Cassian Utrie began the day for CUA with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Phil Myers at first singles, and Joe Peters followed with a 6-2, 6-3 victory vs. Ryan Harvey at the second flight.

Brian Bradley picked up a hard-fought win at third singles by downing Nate Hoskins 0-6, 6-2, 6-4 and Jason Quisberth defeated James Villari 6-1, 6-1 at fourth singles.

Jean Paul Roman won the fifth singles match 6-0, 7-5 over Tyler Cheatham, while York's Matthew Rosenkrantz picked up the visitors lone point of the afternoon with a 6-0, 6-3 win over CUA's Schuyler Hayward.

Utrie and Roman defeated Myers and Villari at first doubles 9-8, which completed the scoring for the day.

CUA will begin its spring season on March 6 when the Cardinals travel to Hilton Head, S.C. for its annual spring break trip.  CUA takes on Westminster in its first match beginning at 11:30 a.m.
