HUNTINGDON, Pa. – CUA put the finishing touches on a
memorable weekend on Sunday afternoon by downing Goucher in
straight sets. The win improved the Cardinals to 14-2 overall
and 2-1 in the Landmark Conference. A day after Head Coach
Nagy Abdelarazek earned his 400th career win, CUA defeated a team
3-0 for the 11th time in 2011.
CUA took the Gophers down by scores of 25-14, 25-15 and
25-23. Claudia Jean had a strong day with 22 digs and 11
kills, while Molly Owens registered nine kills and three digs.
Kelly Crimmins also totaled nine kills, while Katie Chefalas and
Bridget Kulesh finished with six apiece. Michaela Carroll
handed out 29 assists to go along with six digs and Kristina
Purcell was in double figures in digs with 13.
Tori Rain led Goucher with 23 assists, while Kristen
Courage's 16 digs was also a team high. Trish Kalls was
the team leader in kills with nine with Courage right behind her
after posting eight.
On Saturday, Abdelrazek registered win No. 400 when the Cardinals
took down Merchant Marine Academy 3-0. To read a recap of the

CUA returns to action on Thursday, October 6 when the Cardinals
host Hood inside the DuFour Center. Action gets underway
