GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Catholic volleyball hit the road on Wednesday for a non-conference battle against Gettysburg. The Cardinals stayed close by, but were taken down by the Bullets on the road, 3-0.
Gettysburg built a strong lead to open the match, going up 6-2 in the first set as Catholic worked to find their groove. A kill from
Mia Campos Cruz shifted the momentum, and the Cardinals chipped away at the lead, tying the score at seven points apiece. Kills from

Kate Kozlowski and
Julia Raab put Catholic ahead of Gettysburg. Despite growing their advantage, the Bullets went on an eight-point run to regain the lead over the Cardinals. They picked up the final two points to take the set 25-19.
Set two saw a lot of back-and-forth, both teams staying within two points of each other until late. After evening the score at 18, Gettysburg took a substantial lead, adding four points to its tally. The Bullets defense held the Cardinals at 20 as they secured the final two points to win the set, 25-20.
The Gettysburg defense was strong in the third set as its offense built an early lead. Catholic looked for opportunities to stop the Bullets' momentum, scoring by way of kills from Kozlowski, Raab and
Maddie Wilkey early in the set. But it wasn't enough to shut Gettysburg down, and they secured the third 25-9 to earn the 3-0 victory.
Raab led the squad with nine kills.
Caroline Welsh led at the net with four block assists, followed by Kozlowski with three and Turchiano and Cummings who each recorded two.
Vivian O'Brien, Alejandra Garcia and Raab each had a service ace against the Bullets.
Kate Berra had 14 assists against Gettysburg, bringing her season tally to 151.
Anna Maria Carella had 10 assists on the day, she currently leads the squad with 182.Â
Up next, Catholic will return home for a Friday evening match against Landmark Conference opponent Elizabethtown. The meeting is scheduled for October 2 at 7 p.m. against the Blue Jays.
