GLASSBORO, N.J. – The Catholic field hockey team traveled to Rowan for a midweek non-conference matchup on Wednesday evening. After a third quarter surge from the Profs, the Cardinals fell 4-0.
The first half of the game saw both teams looking to find their flow. It was in the 25th minute of play that Rowan found their way into the circle and took their first shot that was saved by
Camryn Lowman. Olivia Nicolucci scooped up the rebound and two seconds later the Profs were on the board with their first goal of the game. Both teams continued to duel, but Rowan held a 1-0 lead over Catholic heading into the break.
The Cardinals made their way to the circle in quarter three looking for scoring opportunities, starting with a shot from
Sophia Sullivan. Despite this, the Profs had a strong third quarter, scoring twice off of their six penalty corners. The first came from Sydney Kowalczyk, followed by another in the 44th minute from Paige Gray. Rowan capped quarter three with a third goal from Mia Foti that was fed by Peyton Ryan to bring the score to 4-0.
In the fourth quarter, Catholic earned three penalty corners, looking to get on the board and narrow the gap. They held Rowan to just one shot that was taken in the 56th minute of play when the Profs were awarded a penalty stroke. The stroke was taken by Rowan's Aurelia McManis but it went wide, and the score remained at 4-0 as time ran out at Coach Richard Wackar Stadium.

Molly Romano and
Lauren Keast all had attempts for the Cardinals, with Romano and Keast on goal. In goal, Lowman logged two saves to bring her season total to 28.
Up next, Catholic will head to Washington College for a road battle on September 19. The Cardinals will take on the Shorewomen at 1 p.m. at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium.
