Cardinals Place Third at Landmark Championships, Winter Wins Gold on Day Two

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Catholic men's track and field team traveled to Huntingdon, Pennsylvania to compete in the second day of the Landmark Conference Championships.

Peter Winter earned the first Catholic gold of the day in the 800m. Winter ran a time of 1:53.18, earning the full ten points. Kendrick DuPree also medaled, earning bronze, with his time of 1:56.82. Augustine Howard finished just behind in fourth with his personal best time of 1:57.21. Brady Falcon also earned points for the squad, placing seventh with his personal best time of 1:58.22. 

Calvin Hernandez logged a second place finish in the 100m finals with his time of 10.76, earning eight points for Catholic. 

Three Cardinals finished in the top eight of the 3000m steeplechase, earning points for their team. Tim Brown ran a personal best time of 10:00.59 with his third place finish. This is also the third best time in program history. Shane Waring placed fifth with his personal best time of 10:11.42. This is about a 40 second jump from his previous personal best, moving him up the record books from ninth to fifth. Matt Haugh racked up a personal best as well, a program sixth best time of 10:15.75. 

In the 400m hurdles, Emmanuel Olarewaju and Gabe Devaney placed second and third, respectively, while breaking the venue record. Olarewaju earned silver with his time of 55.00. Devaney earned bronze with his personal best of 55.18. Madden also logged a point for the Cardinals with his eighth place time of 58.18. Josh Phillips ran a season best of 1:00.72. 

The Cardinal 4x100 relay team of Hernandez, Romell Randolph, Colin Matthews, and Malichi McIver ran a time of 42.75 and finished fourth in the race.

In the 110m hurdle finals, both Drew Madden and Devaney ran personal bests. Madden placed fifth with 15.43 and Devaney placed eighth with 16.18. Madden's time is the new program's fourth best time. Devaney's is the new eighth best time.

Sean Owens placed sixth in the 400m with his personal best time of 50.31. Randolph chalked up a personal best time of 50.45. Marco Indelicato ran 51.47 and Matthews logged 51.66. Gabe Stypul logged a season best time of 52.26.

On the field side of things, Quinn Brubaker and Madden logged points for the Cardinals in the high jump. Brubaker collected himself the bronze medal with his jump of 1.83m and teammate Madden logged the same height, earning fourth place.  

All three Cardinals finished back-to-back-to-back in the triple jump. Nathan Chaney placed third with his distance of 13.37m, the program's sixth best jump. Senior Nicholas Chang earned a personal best with his fourth place finish, 13.23m, and the program's eighth best spot. Adrian Villatoro reached a season best distance of 12.95m. 

Max Lindung placed seventh in the javelin with his throw of 49.75m. Caden Lopez reached a personal best distance of 45.51m. James Varellas threw 36.86m. 

In the discus, Sean Eiffe threw a personal best distance of 33.06m. Ethan Carmichael threw 31.60m and Mark Enamorado logged 30.76m. 

Overall, Catholic finished in third place with 164 points. Moravian placed first with 221 and Susquehanna earned 184.5.

Up next, the Cardinals will compete at the Widener Final Qualifier on Monday, May 11th in Chester, Pennsylvania.
