Catholic Takes First Place in Five Events at the Carpenter-Case Invite

WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Catholic men's track and field team traveled to McDaniel to compete in the Carpenter-Case Invite. The Cardinals took five first place finishes and plenty of season bests across the day.

In pole vault, Gabe Stypul took first place with his season best vault of 4.10m. Charles Connolly III also reached a season best with his height of 3.65m. Kamran Jagadesan reached 3.20m. Matt Daley rounded out the crew with a season best 3.05m. 

Brandon Hancock reached 6.07m in the long jump. Anthony Escuadro logged a distance of 5.81m.

Nicholas Chang was the lone Cardinal in the triple jump. He reached a distance of 12.69m. 

In discus, Mark Enamorado threw a distance of 35.40m. Ethan Carmichael threw 32.34m, a personal best. Sean Eiffe reached 32.18m with his throw. Warren Gillis logged a personal best with 29.74m.

James Varellas threw a distance of 37.32m in the javelin.

Enamorado finished third with his throw of 41.17m in the hammer throw. Warr threw 35.71m. 

In the 3000m steeplechase, Matt Haugh took the top spot with his personal best time of 10:30.50. This is the program's fifth best time. Shane Waring ran 10:55.28, the program's ninth best time.

In the 1500m, Tim Sweeney ran a personal best time of 4:18.91. Joshua Leon logged 4:31.15. Matthew McCormack ran a time of 4:37.99, a personal best. 

In the 110m hurdles, Gabe Devaney tallied a time of 17.06. In the 400m hurdles, Devaney ran a personal best 56.05 and moved from the sixth to fifth best program time. 

Colin Matthews logged a season best in the 400m, 51.63. In the 100m, Malachi McIver ran a time of 11.68. 

In the 800m, Brady Falcon ran a season best 1:58.83. 

In the 200m, Romell Randolph ran a time of 22.47 with his second place finish. 

Joseph Locke took first place in the 5000m with his season best time of 15:33.32. Richard Harrington came in third with his personal best of 15:57.26. Patrick Morris ran a time of 16:07.69. Jagadesan logged 17:11.88. 

In the high jump, Quinn Brubaker reached 1.80m with his first place finish. Connolly III reached a height of 1.70m. 

In the shot put, Eiffe captured first place with his throw of 12.50m. Varellas threw 11.41. Warr equaled his personal best with 11.25m. Gillis rounded out the crew with 11.03m. 

Up next, Christian Di Nicolantonio will represent the Cardinals on Saturday, April 25th in the pole vault championships.
