Greaser’s Second Half Goal Secures Win Over Susquehanna

WASHINGTON, D.C.
– The Catholic women's soccer team continued its Landmark Conference dominance with a second half go-ahead goal against Susquehanna.

Catholic quickly took the ball to its offensive side, earning a corner kick just a minute into play. Just a few minutes later, Caroline Aponte took the first shot for the Cardinals, giving Susquehanna goalkeeper Katie Henchy her first save of the game.

Aponte took two more shots in the first half, while Sara Greaser, Ava Moran, Catalina Zumbado, and Reagan O'Mara also looked for opportunities, taking shots of their own. Susquehanna saw some opportunities, but were unsuccessful as well.

Both defenses held strong, and the score was knotted at zero heading into the break.

The Cardinals came into the half looking to remove the zero from the scoreboard under their name. After receiving a Catholic throw-in, Moran passed the ball to Greaser who was waiting at the center of the field. Greaser dribbled the ball, spun around and took a strong shot that snuck into the right side of the Susquehanna goal to put Catholic on the board in the 65th minute of play.

Susquehanna's Henchy tallied four more saves on the night after Catholic scored, resulting in a 1-0 score in favor of the Cardinals.

With this win, Catholic improves its record to 10-3-2 overall this season, and they remain unbeaten in Landmark play with a record of 6-0-1. Catholic has also clinched a bye in the First Round of the Landmark Conference Tournament.
