WINCHESTER, VAÂ - The Catholic women's soccer team found itself back in the win column with a 1-0 win against Shenandoah.
The Cardinals traveled to Shenandoah searching for their first win since September 6th. In the 34th minute, the mission seemed possible for Catholic.
Katie Scully sent the ball low left off a pass from
Teighan Boyle to find the back of the net.Â
The Cardinals were able to keep the Hornets off of the board for the first half, despite Shenandoah getting off 7 shots. In the second half, Shenandoah shot 7 more times, but were unable to score against goalkeeper
Ava Rieger and the Catholic defense.Â
Senior Rieger earned a start back in goal for the Cardinals, facing a total of 14 shots and collecting 8 saves. With the shutout, Rieger is now tied for the career shutout record at 25 for Catholic.Â

Payton Hardy, and Rieger were the only 3 Cardinals to see full time.
Caroline Aponte played 81 minutes making an impact for Catholic.
Up next, the Cardinals are on the road for their 4th and final game of their road stretch. They will travel to Newport News, Va. to take on #3 Christopher Newport on Wednesday, September 24th at 5 p.m.
