WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic field hockey team finds its first goal with time, but fall 3-1 against #16 Franklin & Marshall.
The Diplomats put themselves on the board early, scoring in the 10th minute of the first quarter. Hannah Fitzgerald scored her 4th goal of the season with an assist from Caitlin Hoover.Â
In the 5th minute of the second quarter, the Cardinals were awarded their first corner of the game.
Bella Reyes inserted the ball to
Mary Rojack and she took the shot herself. With a high flick, Rojack scores her first goal of the season.Â
The Cardinals head into the second half tied with a goal for the first time this season. Catholic comes into the second half with a newfound intensity, highlighted by goalkeeper
Ella Bowman making two saves on two corners. Bowman had a total of 7 saves this game.Â
With the Cardinals down a player due to a green card, Fitzgerald of Franklin & Marshall cashes in her second goal of the game during the 9th minute of the third quarter.Â
Late in the fourth quarter, the Diplomats were awarded a penalty stroke. Caroline Roschen for Franklin & Marshall steps up to the line and flicks it past Bowman to give the Diplomats their third goal.Â
