Four Top-Three Finishes Have Catholic in Fourth after Day One of Landmarks

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Laurel McMahon, Ciara Donegan, Emily Moehringer, and Madi Fuerst all nabbed top three finishes on day one of the Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships to lead Catholic on its journey to repeat. 

Catholic sits in fourth after six scored events, totaling 31 points, just two shy of Elizabethtown and Susquehanna in second. 

McMahon started things off early in the day for the Cardinals, placing second in the 10,000 with a time of 40:00.56. Teammate Georgia Nussey finished just outside of the medal range, placing fourth with a time of 41:01.91.

A personal best throw of 44.24 meters propelled Donegan to a silver medal in the hammer throw, as she moved up to number five on Catholic's all-time performance list. She also placed ninth in the shot put with a 12.22-meter toss. 

Fuerst and Moehringer both took home bronze medals, finishing third in the pole vault and 1,500 respectively. Fuerst placed third with a 3.40-meter mark in the pole vault, tying her personal best and program record set earlier this spring. Moehringer placed third in the 1,500, finishing behind NCAA qualifiers Kelty Oaster and Tanise Thornton-Filyaw with a time of 4:36.89. 

The Cardinals had a number of athletes qualify for finals tomorrow, including three in the 100, three in the 100 hurdles, and one in the 200. 

Sarah Schumacher had a great day for Catholic, qualifying in both the 100 and 200 while moving up on the outdoor top-10 lists in the process. She finished seventh in the 100 with a time of 12.72, moving up to fourth all-time. She finished sixth in the 200, qualifying for the final with a new PR time of 26.05, good for third on Catholic's all-time list. 

Erin Buckley and Kortney Clipper joined Schumacher in qualifying for the 100 finals, finishing fifth and sixth respectively with times of 12.61 and 12.63 seconds. 

Brigid Byrnes (4th), Edith Tomasek (6th), and Mia McConnell (8th) all qualified for the 100 hurdles final. Byrnes led the way with a time of 15.29 seconds while Tomasek moved up to fifth all-time in Catholic history with a time of 16.12 while McConnell moved into sixth with a time of 16.15. 

Catholic had a number of other performances that garnered spots on the all-time performance list. They are:

  • Clipper - 200 - 26.28 - tied for #6 all-time
  • Alicia Vo - 100 Hurdles - 16.29 - #7 all-time
  • Zoey Brown - 200 - 26.67 - #8 all-time
  • Molly Maxwell - Hammer Throw - 39.17m - #9 all-time
  • Maxwell - Shot Put - 10.95m - #9 all-time
  • Kate Quashne - Long Jump - 4.79m - tied for #10 all-time
