Moehringer Qualifies for Finals, Byrnes Grabs All-America Honors

GENEVA, OHIO - The Catholic women's track & field program had three athletes compete on a successful first day of the Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. 

Emily Moehringer led the way, placing fifth in the preliminaries of the 1,500, securing her spot in Saturday's final and guaranteeing her fourth career All-American honor. Moehringer finished fourth in her heat, the fastest of the three, clocking a time of 4:28.61 to qualify for the Final on Saturday at 1:35 p.m. Moehringer was one of just five of the 22 competitors to break 4:30 in today's event. 

Also competing on Thursday were Brigid Byrnes and Clare Marsh in the 400 hurdles. Byrnes placed fifth in her heat and 14th overall with a time of 1:02.87, securing All-America honors. Byrnes becomes the sixth woman in program history to be named an All-American and the youngest, doing so as a sophomore. Marsh placed 19th overall with a time of 1:03.87 in her second NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. 

Moehringer and Jevontae Fearwell will compete for the Cardinals tomorrow with Fearwell scheduled to run in the 100 at 3:30 while Moehringer will run the 800 at 4:15 p.m.
