Rosado's Six-Point Day Not Enough to Push Cardinals Past Blue Jays

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Catholic senior Victor Rosado totaled six points in the contest, creeping closer to the Catholic program record, but Elizabethtown outscored the Cardinals 4-2 to eek out an 11-9 victory.

Rosado finished the night with four goals and two assists, the only Cardinal to record multiple points in the losing effort, pushing him to 203 points for his Catholic career.

The Cardinals jumped ahead 2-1 after goals from Rosado and Chris McCabe in the opening quarter before Lucca Scomillio tied the contest with 3:05 to play in the first. Elizabethtown scored the first two goals of the second, but Matt Shandley and Rosado responded to tie the contest at 4-4. Jay Rodriguez gave the Blue Jays a 5-4 lead with 7:12 remaining in the half, but a Ryan Carickhoff goal with 3:41 on the clock sent the game to half tied at 5-5.

After an opening Blue Jay goal, Rosado scored his third of the game with 9:54 to play in the third, finishing a Finn Smith feed to tie the contest for the sixth time with 2:00 left.

Tied entering the final quarter, Alejandro Masferrer put Catholic ahead 8-7 1:05 into the period, but Elizabethtown would score the next four goals to help put away the Cardinals. Cullen Lotz scored with 4:39 left to pull Catholic back within two, but it proved to be the final goal of the contest.

Liam Daly made eight saves for Catholic while Ryan Macksoud and Connor Baia combined to win 17-of-24 face-offs. Macksoud led with seven ground balls while Jack Dwyer caused two turnovers.

Catholic will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday, taking on the Juniata Eagles at 1 p.m. on Carlini Field.
