WASHINGTON, D.C. - Catholic dropped a non-conference matchup with Washington College on Saturday afternoon in D.C., losing 15-6 to the Shoremen. The Cardinals fall to 1-4 on the season while Washington College improves to 4-2.
The Shoremen used a high-powered first half, scoring nine in the first 30 minutes to build a six-goal advantage at the break. Washington College put three on the board before
Cullen Lotz scored the first goal of the game for the Cardinals with 7:36 to play in the opening period.
While Washington College scored just once more in the first, it put home the first three goals of the second to build a 7-1 lead.
Fitz McLaughlin scored his first goal of the season off a
Logan Farrington assist with 7:55 to play in the first half to make it 7-2. Trailing 9-2,
Victor Rosado found
Matt Ford with less than a second left to pull Catholic back within six at the break.
The Cardinals were held scoreless in the third before getting fourth quarter goals from
Brady McMahon, Rosado, and
Liam Hill.
Cam Carrigan tallied a hat trick for the Shoremen while Grant Matthews and Ben Dickinson handed out three assists to go with a goal each.
Ryan Macksoud was solid at the face-off X for the Cardinals, winning 13-of-20 and picking up 10 ground balls.
Liam Daly made 13 saves while
Colton Manorek added two saves in his collegiate debut.
Catholic will host Bridgewater at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon on Carlini Field.
