PITTSFORD, N.Y. - Seniors
Emily Moehringer and
Clare Marsh each broke a program record for Catholic women's indoor track & field at the DIII Elite Meet hosted by Nazareth on Saturday.
Moehringer became the second woman in program history to run the mile in sub-five minutes, besting
Lauren Cerda's program record time of 4:59.22 with a time of 4:56.93. Moehringer's time boosts her into fourth in Landmark Conference history and as of writing sits in the top-10 nationally, setting her in great shape for NCAA Championship qualification.
Marsh had a big day, breaking her own program record in the 400 and moving into third on the Catholic all-time performance list in the 200. Marsh finished fourth in the 400, blazing to a time of 58.97, making her the first in program history to break 59 seconds. She passes teammate
Brigid Byrnes who took over the program record last season with a run of 59.26 seconds. Byrnes finished fifth at the event with a time of 59.50 today while
Mia McConnell placed ninth and improved upon her personal best time, crossing the finish line in 1:01.34 to remain in 10th on the performance list.
Marsh finished seventh in the 200, behind
Catherine Egan and Byrnes, but moving up to third in Catholic women's history with a time of 26.64. Egan was the fastest Cardinal today, finishing third with a time of 26.31 to improve her standing in second on Catholic's all-time list. Byrnes, who holds the record, finished fourth with a time of 26.39. Other strong finishes in the 200 included
Erin Buckley (26.84 - 11th) and
Kortney Clipper (27.12 - 15th) who moves into sixth on Catholic's all-time list.
Egan, Clipper, Buckley, and
Megan Burns all competed in the 60 finals as Egan led the way with a second-place finish. She finished with a time of 8.05 seconds while Clipper (8.14), Buckley (8.16), and Burns (8.18) finished fifth, seventh, and eighth.
Georgia Nussey and
Laurel McMahon each ran strong races in the 3,000 with Nussey placing fourth and moving up to fourth on Catholic's all-time list. Nussey finished the race in 10:40.47, a 15-second improvement on her PR. McMahon's improvement was 20 seconds as she finished sixth with a time of 10:48.40 to move up to fifth all-time.
Alicia Vo set a couple personal bests for Catholic, finishing 13th in the triple jump with a new best jump of 10.26 meters while moving out of a tie for sixth in program history in the high jump to hold the spot by herself with a 1.48-meter jump.
