TOWSON, Md. – The Catholic volleyball team improved its Landmark record to 4-1 with their 3-1 win over Goucher.
Catholic dropped the first set after Goucher went on a 9 point run to end the set 25-18.
The Cardinals bounced back in the next set, winning 25-13. Kills from
Erin Faughnan and
Mariana Roman Cruz allowed Catholic to increase their lead from 10-7 to 16-7. A kill from
Julia Turchiano sealed the second set in Catholic's favor.
Catholic once again secured the third set handedly, winning 25-15.
Julia Raab earned 6 of her 16 kills of the match in this third set.Â
In the fourth and final set of the match, the Cardinals outscored the Gophers 25-12. Turchiano,
Juliette Cummings, and
Tanya Sichling helped the Cardinals run away with the set, improving their lead from 14 to 9 to 18 to 10.Â
The Cardinals collected 15 kills in each of the final 3 sets. Raab led the Cardinals in this category with her 16 and Faughnan was close behind with 12.Â
Anna Maria Carella earned a season high 26 assists and led the team against Goucher. Sichling led the Cardinals with 6 aces, a career high for the senior.
