WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The 18th ranked Catholic women's basketball team started off the 2025 portion of the schedule on the road at Lycoming with conference play continuing. A hot shooting first half gave the Cardinals a commanding lead going into the break which allowed them to cruise to an 88-40 convincing win over the Warriors to push its' season record to 11-1.
The Cardinals came out the gates strong in the opening quarter scoring the first 10 points of the game with
Keegan Douglas coming up with the first five. Catholic relied on the three ball early and often in the quarter and knocked down 5-of-10 which is where a bulk of the team's points came from three to lead 23-9 going into the second.
The second quarter yielded more of the same results for Catholic as they put together another efficient quarter of offense, shooting 10-for-17 (59%) as a group while Douglas got herself into double figures with 10 points. The Cardinals used another 10-0 to close out the half and take a 47-19 lead into the break.
Sofia Travieso dropped four points during the run with
Carly Mulvaney,
Lauren Kraft and
Alexa Kenah also scoring.
The Cardinals grew the lead even more in the third by holding the Warriors to just five points and 2-for-12 from the field while outscoring them 22-5. Catholic were able to get several players in during the second half, including
Ella Iacone who scored seven points in the second half with
Lia Villa also pitching in five points and two rebounds. The Cardinals soared to an 88-40 victory over the Warriors for an eighth consecutive win and are now 4-1 in Landmark play.
15 of the 16 Catholic players who entered the contest scored in the win, led by Kenah and Douglas who both finished with 12 points.
Kerry Flaherty came in behind them with nine points and four Cardinals finished the game with seven. Mulvaney was one of the Cardinals with seven points and also pulled down eight rebounds.
The Cardinals had their best game from behind the arc of the season against the Warriors, knocking down a season-high 14 three's while also converting at a season-high clip of 48%. Mulvaney also hit a career milestone from downtown, making her 100th career triple in the second quarter in the win. Catholic also had a season-high percentage from the floor in the contest at 50%. The team's 88 points is the second highest point total for the Cardinals this season and is the fourth time they have put up 80+ points in a game this season.
Catholic returns home to Franny Murray Court on Saturday, January 11 for another conference matchup against Drew. The Cardinals will take on the Rangers at 2 pm.
