Coach Gutelius to Take Time Away After Medical Procedure

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Catholic football Vincent and Ellen Sica Endowed Football Coach Mike Gutelius will step away from the sidelines indefinitely following a recent medical procedure.

Gutelius is in recovery post-operation and remains deeply invested in the Catholic football program. He is in good spirits and remains in recovery at home with his family.

"I ask for your continued incredible support through your thoughts and prayers," said Gutelius. "I want you to know that this team's compassion and strength of purpose have brought me to tears on more than one occasion. I am truly blessed to be a part of this family, and I can't wait to get back out there in full strength!"

Associate Head Coach Jonathan Rutledge and Assistant Head Coach Brandon Beech will lead the program while Gutelius is away. Catholic opens up the 2024 season at McDaniel on Friday evening.
