| By:
WASHINGTON, D.C. - For the second time in three weeks, Catholic wide receiver Preston Jeffrey has been named to the DC Touchdown Club Washington Metro College Football Player of the Week Honor Roll. Jeffrey caught 10 passes on Saturday for 93 yards and three touchdowns in a 31-20 victory at SUNY Morrisville. The Cardinals improved to 2-1 on the season with the win and host Alfred for their final non-conference game of the season on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Jeffrey, a 6-3 senior from Carrollton, Va. is off to a tremendous start in 2023. Jeffrey has caught 24 passes for 327 yards and five scores in just three contests to help lead a prolific Catholic passing attack. Jeffrey added a six-yard rush on Saturday to bring him to 99 total yards for the game. Jeffrey flew past the 2,000-yard mark for his career, sitting at 2,032 in 33 career games. The veteran wideout has 141 career receptions and 23 touchdowns as a Cardinal.

On Saturday afternoon in Morrisville, N.Y., Jeffrey grabbed the first score of the game, a four-yard pass from Madden Lowe, to cap off a 14-play, 76-yard drive. The Mustangs scored to even it up later in the first quarter, but it was Jeffrey again who found the end zone for the Cardinals with 8:59 left in the first half. After starting with a short field, Lowe found Jeffrey for an 18-yard score on the seventh play of the drive, pushing Catholic back ahead 14-7.

Jeffrey's third, and final, touchdown on the day proved to be a big one as Catholic retook the lead, 24-20, with 2:00 left on the game clock. Jeffrey capped off a 16-play drive, catching a 17-yard score that proved to be the game-winner.
