MOOSIC, Pa. - The Catholic Cardinals women's golf team holds a nine-shot lead after Sunday's first round of the Landmark Conference Championships at Glenmaura National Golf Club. 

The Cardinals shot a team score of 335 (+51), nine shots better than Drew in second place. 

Lauren Lombardo led the Cardinals on a tough day that saw just one player finish better than five over. Lombardo sits in a tie for third with an opening round 77 (+6). Brooke Smith shot an opening-round 83 to sit in a tie for fifth after play ended on Sunday. Lauren Wright shot 87 while Avery Mrak shot 88 to sit in 10th and 11th on the leaderboard after the first round. Tyler Zierski rounded out Catholic's scoring with an opening-round 99, good enough for a share of 16th.

Lombardo carded a pair of birdies and eight pars in her round, finishing with birdies on the 374-yard par four fourth hole and the 129-yard par three 11th hole. Lombardo shot a two over 38 on the back nine. 

Smith finished the day with 10 pars and overcame a nine on the par four third. Smith shot 39 on the back nine after shooting a 44 on the opening nine. 

Wright added six pars and a birdie during her round while Mrak had nine pars on the day. 

The Landmark Championship's second round will tee off at 9 a.m. on Monday morning.
