CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Catholic women's golf team placed sixth in the Wallace Division at the Martin & Wallace Invitational this weekend at Cortland Country Club. Catholic entered the day in sixth and held off Wesleyan by four shots.
For the tournament, the Cardinals finished +78, following up a team score of +38 on Saturday with a score of +40 on Sunday.
Brooke Smith followed up a Saturday 78 with another 78 to finish in a tie for 18th, the best finish for a Cardinal this weekend. Smith finished the tournament 12-over par. Lauren Lombardo placed in a tie for 30th, falling five spots on Sunday with an 81 to follow Saturday's 79.
Lauren Wright was four shots better on Sunday, carding a 79 to remain in a tie for 36th in the tournament with a score of +18. Avery Mrak finished 44th with a final score of +32 after a 90 on Sunday.
Tyler Zierski was five strokes better on Sunday, finishing in a tie for 47th at +41.
This was Catholic's final tune-up before the Landmark Conference Championships on Sunday, April 23, and Monday, April 24. The Championships will take place at Glenmaura National Golf Club in Moosic, Pa.
