STAFFORD, Va. — Two Cardinals find themselves within the top 10 midway through play at the Augustine Intercollegiate.
Sophomore Avery Mrak leads the way for Catholic after 18 holes at Augustine Golf Club, carding an opening-day 86 (+15), earning her a share of fifth place.
Fresh off of her first-career Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week honor, freshman Lauren Wright is just one stroke behind Mrak (87, +16) in a tie for 10th.
Brooke Smith (89, +18) and Annie Wright (93, +22) both secured top-15 days. Smith owns solo 12th and Wright shares 14th while Isabelle Seratch rounded out the scoring for the Cardinals, shooting a 105 (+34).
Playing as an individual, Tyler Zierski shot a 90 (+19) and sits in solo 13th.
As a collective, Catholic sits in second behind an impressive York (Pa.) squad that was led by Natalie Robson who shot even par (71) with three birdies. She leads the tournament by nine strokes.
The Cardinals will look to finish strong tomorrow when play commences at 10 a.m.
