HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Lauren Lombardo and Lauren Wright each placed in a tie for third individually to lead the Catholic women's golf team to a six-shot victory over Le Moyne at the Cardinal Spring Classic. Catholic entered Sunday trailing by five before a strong Sunday push brought them to victory.
The Cardinals were eight shots better on day two, shooting 324 (+36) as Le Moyne shot 335 (+47) to fall out of the lead. Lombardo carded a 78 (+6) to move up five spots on day two and finish in a tie for third at +17. Wright carded a 79 (+7) to move up four spots, joining Lombardo in a tie for third. Brooke Smith shot 164 (+20) with a Sunday score of 81 to place seventh for the Cardinals. Avery Mrak (t13) and Annie Wright (t23) rounded out the five for the Cardinals.
Catholic carded 68 pars for the weekend with eight birdies tossed in. L. Wright had 18 pars for Catholic while Smith finished with 17 pars. Lombardo tied for the tournament lead with four birdies on the weekend while Wright was just behind her with three. Catholic led the tournament in par-five scoring with an average score of 5.53 (+21), two shots better than Le Moyne (+23).
