Caputo Scores For Catholic In Loss To #4 Salisbury

Box Score

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Junior Kellie Caputo scored her third goal of the season in Wednesday night's 4-1 loss to fourth-ranked Salisbury at Cardinal Stadium. The Cardinals fell to 3-6 on the season as they continue to play one of the toughest non-conference schedules in Division III.

The Cardinals held Salisbury scoreless in the opening frame, as neither team generated a ton of good looks. Freshman goalkeeper Abigail Kearney made the lone save of the period with just over 90 seconds to play, saving a shot from McKenna Horner.

Kearney made the second of her four saves early on in the second quarter before allowing the first goal of the game with less than three minutes to play in the first half. Allie Davis ripped a shot for the Sea Gulls that was blocked by the Catholic defense, but Emma Jeffries was there to put home the rebound and put the Gulls on top.

Davis got on the scoresheet for Salisbury in the third period, scoring on a penalty stroke. Trailing 3-0, Mary Parker played the ball in from the right side of the cage, finding Caputo on the left side for the lone goal for Catholic. The assist was Parker's second of the season and the ninth of her career. With four tonight, Kearney is up over 40 saves for the season.

Catholic returns to Cardinal Stadium on Saturday at 1 p.m. as they host Drew for Senior Day.
