UPPERCO, Md. - The Catholic University women's golf team earned a tournament victory on Monday afternoon, tallying a team score of +57, defeating second-place Alvernia by 17 strokes.
Sophomore Lauren Lombardo and freshman Brooke Smith both placed in the top five of Monday's event with Lombardo carding an 80 (+9) and Smith shooting an 82 (+11). Freshman Lauren Wright joined the pair in the top 10, giving Catholic three of the top seven finishers at Piney Branch Golf Club. Wright carded an 85 (+14) to place seventh for the victors.
Catholic finished the day with a team total of 341, 57 shots over par, finishing comfortably ahead of Alvernia (+74), Hood (+85), Stevenson (+108), Goucher (+129), and Juniata (+214).
The Cardinals are back in action on Saturday at the Landmark Conference Championship Preview hosted at Glenmaura National Golf Club.
