MADISON, N.J. - The Catholic University women's basketball team scored 33 second-half points, including 13 off turnovers as the No. 15/18 Cardinals posted a 59-50 victory over Drew Saturday at Baldwin Gymnasium.

Catholic (17-2, 8-2 LC) posted its fourth-straight win against the Rangers, scoring almost half the team's points, 29, off of 24 turnovers.

The Cardinals had 18 steals as a team led by five from senior Luca Mamula.

Junior Rachel Bussanich scored a season-high 18 points to go along with five rebounds and three assists. Junior Erin Doherty had 14 points while senior Amanda Johnson totaled 10 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Drew (14-5, 5-5 LC) took its largest lead of the game at 10-2 just seven minutes in before Catholic tied it at 10-10 following an 8-0 run, keyed by four points from Doherty.

With the game tied at 26-26, the Rangers scored the final four points of the first half to take a 30-26 halftime advantage.

Drew also scored the first four points of the second half to push its lead back to eight, but the Cardinals closed the third quarter on a 14-4 run to lead 40-38 going into the fourth.

The final quarter saw three ties and two lead changes, the last of which came with 4:04 remaining when the Rangers' Joey Meyers hit two free throws to tie the game at 50-50.

Catholic scored the game's final nine points, including five from the free throw line in the final 25 seconds, going 5-for-6.

Bussanich scored 12 of her game-high 18 points in the second half while Doherty and Johnson each added eight.

In addition to her five steals, Mamula finished with eight points and three rebounds off the bench.

Meyers led Drew with 14 points, but had six turnovers.

The Cardinals return home to face Goucher on Wednesday. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. on Franny Murray Court.
