SCRANTON, Pa. - Senior Amanda Johnson scored 12 points as the No. 25 Catholic University women's basketball team fell to No. 16 Scranton in the Landmark Conference championship game Saturday at John Long Center.

The Cardinals (20-5) and Royals met to decide the conference champion for the third-straight year and seventh time overall.

Johnson totaled 12 points, four rebounds and four assists while senior Luca Mamula added 10 points, five rebounds and three steals.

Catholic shot just 35.2 percent from the floor, including 4-14 in the first quarter as the Royals jumped out to a 9-2 lead and never trailed. Led by six points and three rebounds from Abby Anderson, Scranton scored 14 of their 20 first-quarter points in the paint.

Anderson totaled 21 points and 11 rebounds as the Royals (25-2) finished the game with 32 points in the paint and 23 off turnovers.

The Cardinals held Scranton scoreless for the first four minutes of the fourth quarter, but they were limited by 3-of-15 shooting as the Royals stretched their lead to as many as 20 with 2:30 remaining.

Junior Rachel Bussanich and freshman Carly Mulvaney each had nine points with Bussanich adding six rebounds.

Catholic, who was ranked sixth in this week's NCAA Region V rankings, will wait and see if it receives an at-large bid to the 2022 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship. Selections for the 64-team NCAA tournament will be announced on Monday at 2:30 p.m. live on NCAA.com.
