Cardinals Drop Series Opener Against Montclair State

Box Score

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic University baseball team fell to Montclair State Saturday at Talbot Field, 19-0.

The Cardinals (2-2) struggled to mount any offense at the plate as Red Hawk pitcher Patrick Cuccurullo did not allow a hit and walked just two in six innings of work.

Senior Tommy Antonucci doubled to right center field in the seventh inning for what proved to be the Cardinals' only hit of the day.

Freshman Danny Prior had a solid performance for the Cardinals in his collegiate debut, holding Montclair State (3-1) scoreless over 1.1 innings.

Junior Tucker Alch suffered his first loss of the season and just the third of his career in 13 starts. Meanwhile, Cuccurullo picked up his first win in his second start.

The Cardinals and Red Hawks conclude their three-game series with a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 11 a.m.
