SELINSGROVE, Pa. — The Catholic University field hockey team defeated Susquehanna on Wednesday night to advance to the Landmark Conference Championship game.

Mary Parker scored the lone goal of the contest a minute into the fourth quarter to propel the team to its 11th championship game in the last 15 seasons.

Emma Shallow served the ball from deep before sophomore Niki Micciche turned an effort toward the cage. Mackenzie Bross was able to get a pad to it but Parker was quickest to react and shoveled the rebound beyond the goalkeeper to put Catholic permanently ahead.

The Cardinals were absolutely suffocating on defense, not allowing a single shot on goal throughout the entire contest. The game was cagey, as the Cardinals only managed six shots themselves, but put four of them on frame.

Parker was dominant on the day, mustering four of the team's shots.

The entire Cardinal squad put in a massive effort to hold Susquehanna's offense in check, but special praise should be given to defenders Gracie Burford, Caroline Evans and Shallow. Mary Rojack also contributed greatly, working hard in a more free-ranging role.

Catholic will now host the Landmark Conference Championship contest after No. 4 Moravian upset the top-seeded Scranton, scoring the lone goal with less than two minutes remaining in their semifinal contest. The two teams will fight for the championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Cardinal Stadium.
