WASHINGTON, D.C. - Saturday marked another impressive dual meet victory for the Catholic men's swimming and diving team as the Cardinals defeated Elizabethtown 181-81.
The Cardinal quartet of Jack Hufner, Nathan Ober, Aidan Malvey, and Daniel Green opened the meet with a 400-yard freestyle medley relay victory for Catholic, finishing in 3:41.77 to win the event by just under seven seconds.
A short time later, Green added another event victory to his tally with a winning time of 1:50.77 in the 200-yard free.
Hufner added an individual event win to the tally in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing with a time of 55.85. Ober joined in on the fun with a win in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing with a time of 59.16 to beat his teammate Jackson Hicks.
Malvey went on to win the 200-yard fly, picking up a four-plus second win with a time of 2:03.43. In the final event before the diving break, Jeffrey Schriefer-Flores won the 50 free with a time of 22.22. The graduate added another individual win in the 100 free with a time of 49.99 just beating out Green.
Hufner made it a three-win day with a time of 2:00.97 in the 200 back, edging out Elizabethtown's Leif Hoffman. Ober joined the three-win club with a win of more than four seconds in the 200 breast.
Ellis Prescott won the 500 free with a time of 5:02.43 to edge Hicks. Malvey became the third three-event winner with a time of 56.04 in the 100 fly.
Not to be outdone, Ober added one more notch to the belt, winning the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:01.57.
Hicks, Schriefer-Flores, Green, and Hufner combined to win the 200-free relay, giving Hufner a fourth win for the day.
The Cardinals are back in action in two weeks as they head down to the Yellow Jacket Invite and host a Diving Invite in D.C.
