BALTIMORE, Md. - After four days of fierce competition, the Catholic men's swimming and diving team has captured their tenth consecutive Landmark Conference Championship. The Cardinals totaled 877.50 points to secure the title, surpassing the previous record of nine championships for the most in Landmark history.
Shawn Mashburn and
Sean Kelty opened Sunday evening's finals in the 1650 Freestyle, each earning a podium finish. Mashburn placed second with a time of 16:24.56, while Kelty finished third in 16:30.75
Teddy Tsakumis delivered another standout performance in the Backstroke events, claiming gold in the 200 Backstroke. T. Tsakumis dropped nearly from his preliminary swim to the final, clocking a time of 1:50.27.
In the 200 Breaststroke,
John Holler earned a silver medal with a time of 2:07.03. Alex Tsakumis also added valuable points for the Cardinals in the 100 Freestyle, placing fourth in 46.56.
Vincent Wills and
Benjamin Lutcher both reached the podium in the 200 Butterfly, with Wills finishing second in 1:53.37 and Lutcher close behind in third at 1:53.88.
The Cardinals closed out the weekend with a second-place finish in the 400 Freestyle Relay. The team of Holler,
Jack Thompson, A. Tsakumis, and T. Tsakumis combined for a time of 3:06.18 to secure silver.
Catholic claimed the conference trophy once again, defeating the runner-up by nearly 100 points.
Gabriel Hermann was named Landmark Diver of the Year after capturing gold medals in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events to cap off a dominant season. Hermann becomes the fifth person to receive this honor, joining teammate Charles Connelly III, who received the distinction for three consecutive years from 2023 to 2025.
This championship meet concludes another successful season for the Cardinals.
