TOWSON, Md. - Catholic men's swimming and diving team won all eleven events to defeat Goucher College on Saturday afternoon.
Junior Jack Hufner dominated the short-distance events, winning the 200-yard IM, 100-yard freestyle, and 100-yard breaststroke. He recorded a time of 1:11.61 in the 100-yard breaststroke and won by 7 seconds in the 200-yard IM.
The Cardinals won both the 400-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay. Ellis Prescott, Nathan Ober, Dylan McGuire, and Joseph Loel combined to win the 400-yard medley relay earning Catholic 11 points. In the 400 free, Tristan Burrola, Elijah Feret, Jeffrey Schriefer-Flores, and Ober won the event by out-touching Goucher's top relay team by 4 seconds, finishing with a time of 3:32.19.
Ober also won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.75, beating teammate Prescott who took 2nd place. Ober joined Hufner with three victories on the day.
Burrola grabbed an individual victory in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.60, his teammate Luke Grossi, took 2nd, trailing by .16 seconds.
Junior Danny O'Leary won an individual event in the 100-yard backstroke while finishing 2nd in the 100-yard breaststroke to Hufner.
Sophomore Michael Coppola, won the 1000-yard freestyle event by over 20 seconds, finishing with a time of 11:10.43.
Prescott was strong in his individual events, winning the 200-yard freestyle and finishing 2nd in the 100-yard butterfly.
Dominating in the distance event, Jack Hicks grabbed an individual victory in the 500-yard freestyle by 14 seconds, finishing with a time of 4:57.93. Hicks just missed the top time in the Landmark in the event.
The Catholic Cardinals surpassed the Goucher Gophers with a final score of 170-22 in a comprehensive team victory.
Next up, the Cardinals will return to action against Elizabethtown for a home meet on Saturday, November 19th.
