ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. — The Catholic University field hockey team ended its regular season by putting seven goals past Elizabethtown on Saturday afternoon.

The Cardinals scoring started early when Niki Micciche pushed Catholic ahead just 91 seconds into the contest. The sophomore received a feed from defender Emma Shallow before dispatching it past Madeline Kachel to start the Cardinals off on the right foot.

Elizabethtown responded just a few minutes later to level the score at one, but Micciche struck again just four minutes after the equalizer to power Catholic into the lead for good.

It was senior Molly McEvoy who scored the next two goals for the Cardinals. McEvoy's 12th and team-leading 13th goals of the season came in the final minute of the first quarter and the third minute of the second quarter, respectively.

Kellie Caputo notched two assists on the day, providing the helper on McEvoy's second tally as well as assisting Catholic's fifth goal of the contest. Caputo set up senior Gracie Burford's second goal of the season to ensure the Cardinals took a 5-1 lead into halftime.

Micciche would not be stopped, scoring two more goals within a minute of each other in the third quarter. The forward's four-goal performance elevates her season tally to 12.

Mary Parker provided one assist while Abigail Kearney earned the victory in the Cardinal cage to improve to 8-7 on the season.

The victory means that Catholic earns the No. 3 seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament. As a result, the Cardinals will face Susquehanna in the semifinal on Wednesday evening. Opening push back is set for 7 p.m. in Selinsgrove.
