Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. - Despite falling behind 1-0 in the first period, the Catholic University field hockey team picked up a 2-1 victory over Moravian on Saturday evening, improving to 8-7 on the season.
Sydney Anderson scored the first goal of the contest to put the Greyhounds in the lead late in the first period, but the Cardinals scored a pair of second period goals in quick succession to take the lead and ultimately win the contest.
Just over a minute into the second, junior Mary Parker sent in a long pass from the left side to senior Molly McEvoy who powered it into the cage to tie the contest at 1-1. The goal is McEvoy's 11th of the season and her ninth goal in the last six games.
After tying it, Catholic took the lead before Moravian even knew what him them, as the connection reversed with Parker scoring off a feed from McEvoy just 35 seconds later.
Freshman keeper Abigail Kearney made a save early in the fourth quarter to preserve the lead and earned her seventh victory in the process.
The Cardinals improve to 4-2 in Landmark conference play with a final regular season match coming up at Elizabethtown on Saturday.
