Catholic Claims Second Place at Cardinal Fall Classic

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — The Catholic University women's golf team finished second after two days of play at the Cardinal Fall Classic at Black Rock Golf Course.

The Cardinals were led by Brooke Smith and Lauren Lombardo who produced a pair of individual top-five finishes. Smith finished t-3rd after a career-low round on the first day of the tournament saw her hold the overnight lead. Lombardo shot +9 on both days to slot in at t-5th.

Catholic sat atop the leaderboard after the first day of play but a strong push powered Bridgewater to victory. The Eagles shot a two-day score of 663 to win by four strokes over Catholic and eight strokes over Marymount (Va.), who finished third.

Lauren Wright shot a 172 to finish t-14th while Avery Mrak followed one stroke behind to earn 16th place.

Playing as an individual, freshman Tyler Zierski followed up a career-low round of 90 on Saturday with a 93 to claim a share of 23rd.

This marks the final date of competition for the Cardinals until their season resumes in the spring.
