WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic men's swimming and diving team dropped an exciting battle in Saturday's home opener, dropping the meet to Drew by a score of 146.5 to 145.5.
Catholic opened the event with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, posting a time of 1:37.71 to win a high-energy event by .12. Junior Jack Hufner, junior Nathan Ober, sophomore Jackson Hicks, and sophomroe William Crecca combined for the relay win.
Ober picked up a win in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing the event in 59.25 to edge out teammate sophomore Tristan Burrola.
Crecca picked up a few more victories, winning the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.73 and the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.85.
Hicks earned another victory in the 200-yard breaststroke, winning the race by more than eight seconds with a time of 2:13.26.
The Cards closed out the event with a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay, getting contributions from Crecca, graduate Jeffrey Schriefer-Flores, Hufner, and Ober.
Freshman Charles Connolly won the one-meter and three-meter dives for the Cardinals with scores of 176.70 and 121.25 respectively.
Catholic returns to action on October 29th with a meet with Scranton.
