Box Score TOWSON, Md. — The Catholic University women's soccer team secured their third-straight clean sheet on Wednesday as they played Goucher to a scoreless draw.
The Cardinals have not conceded a goal in the month of October, a streak that spans 335 minutes of game time.
Goalkeeper Ava Rieger made five saves as she secured her second-career clean sheet. The back four of Lauren Cerda, Sam Cesario, Brienna Spano and Teighan Boyle were extremely difficult to break down and all logged the full 90 minutes in the strong defensive performance.
Midfielders Sara Placide and Katarina Bauer led the Cardinals with two shots a piece. Placide put both her shots on target, in the 18th and 19th minutes, respectively, but both were saved by Marissa Spacht in the Gopher goal.
The Cardinals looked the more threatening of the two sides, outshooting Goucher 9-7 and earning a staggering 12 corners to the Gophers' four.
Catholic will look to continue their defensive prowess and return to the scoresheet when they face Susquehanna on Saturday. The Cardinals will travel to Selinsgrove for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
