Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Catholic University field hockey team won its fourth straight contest on Wednesday night thanks to an offensive masterclass.
The team spread nine goals over the first three quarters to down Goucher and move to 7-6 on the season and 3-1 in Landmark Conference play.
Reigning National Field Hockey Coaches Association Offensive Player of the Week Molly McEvoy continued her hot streak, scoring two more goals to boost her season total to 10. She has now found the net in each of Catholic's last four victories.
Niki Micciche opened the scoring just three minutes into the contest, with a beautiful elevated finish past the goalkeeper from a Hanna Jacobs pass. Micciche has now scored seven goals on the season, the second-most behind McEvoy.
Allison Flynn, Nancy McGettigan, Mary Parker and Emilia Lieb all scored their first goals of the season in the comprehensive offensive performance. Flynn found the net twice in the first half, scoring for the second time with just 10 seconds remaining in the second quarter.
Goalkeepers Abigail Kearney and Maeve McCarthy split halves and combined for the shutout.
Jacobs, Micciche, McGettigan, Kellie Caputo, Julia Faiola and Caroline Evans all registered an assist in the victory. McGettigan's goal and assist were the first of her collegiate career, as was Lieb's tally.
The Cardinals will look to extend their win streak to five when they welcome the River Hawks of Susquehanna to Cardinal Stadium on Saturday. Opening push back is set for 12:30 p.m.
