WASHINGTON, D.C. - Catholic University men's basketball sophomore Jesse Hafemeister scored 29 points, but the Cardinals fell to Susquehanna Saturday on Franny Murray Court, 62-59.

Catholic (11-5, 4-3 LC) trailed by as many as 12 with 8:09 remaining before using a 14-4 run to cut its deficit to two, 53-31 with 2:07 to play.

The River Hawks pushed the margin back to five, but four-straight points by Hafemeister cut the lead to one.

However, unlike the first meeting between the two where the Cardinals rallied from eight points down in the final 35 seconds to force overtime, Susquehanna (14-4, 6-1 LC) held on to win in regulation as Danny Frauenheim hit two free throws with five seconds remaining to seal the victory.

Hafemeister totaled his seventh game this season with 20 points or more, finishing just three points shy of his career high set at Bridgewater (Va.) on Dec. 11. He scored 23 of Catholic's 32 points in the game's first 26 minutes as the team trailed 33-32 with 14:26 to play in the second half.

Leading by one, the River Hawks (14-4, 6-1 LC) went on a 16-5 run to take its largest lead of the game at 49-37 with just over eight minutes left.

Senior Frank Lumaj totaled 11 points, four blocks, three rebounds and two assists in a season-high 24 minutes. He made his sixth start of the year and was a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor.

Sophomore Jake Timby had eight points while sophomore Tommy Kelly added six points, five assists and three rebounds. Kelly was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line.

Catholic begins a four game road trip on Wednesday when it travels to Huntingdon, Pa. to take on Juniata beginning at 7 p.m.
