FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Catholic University men's swimming team fell to the University of Mary Washington on Saturday, 191.5-69.5.
Freshman Jackson Hicks posted an impressive individual showing despite the team loss.
Hicks dominated the individual breaststroke events, winning the 100-yard with a time of 1:01.20 and the 200-yard with a time of 2:15.22.
Hicks combined with senior Joshua Roberts, junior Ellis Prescott and senior Jeffrey Schriefer-Flores as Catholic finished third in the 200-yard medley relay (1:43.64).
Hicks also swam the 200-yard individual medley, placing second with a time of 2:04.37. Prescott claimed third in the same event (2:04.85).
Prescott grabbed second place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:03.31. Freshman Michael Coppola finished third in the same event with a time of 5:14.43.
Schriefer-Flores posted a pair of top-three finishes in individual events, placing second in the 100-yard freestyle (51.15) and third in the 50-yard freestyle (22.80).
Senior Lenny Brown showed well in the 1000-yard freestyle, finishing second with a time of 10:42.59. Brown also finished fourth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:21.22) and fifth in the 200-yard freestyle (1.57.89).
The Cardinals return to the pool on Friday, Jan. 21. when they host Marymount (VA). They will host Randolph-Macon on Jan. 22 as part of a weekend doubleheader.
