Box Score VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Catholic University women's soccer freshman Maeve Graham made 18 saves as the Cardinals fell to No. 16 Christopher Newport Sunday at Virginia Wesleyan.
Graham totaled the third-most saves in program history, just two saves shy of the record, and the most since Rachel Glennon had 20 at Mary Washington on Oct. 18, 2001. Sabrina Lynch also had 20 saves against Mary Washington on Oct. 15, 1998.
Graham made six saves in the first half to limit the Captains to just one goal on 11 shots.
However, Christopher Newport totaled 23 second-half shots and added three more tallies despite 12 more saves from Graham.
The Cardinals (1-2) had four shots in each half, including three on goal in the second.
Catholic returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 8 at Stevenson. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
