Box Score 2 WASHINGTON, D.C. - Catholic University volleyball junior Brittany Connatser was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Worthington Classic hosted by Gallaudet University Saturday.
The Cardinals (2-13) concluded the two-day event back-to-back losses to Eastern and the host Bison.
Connatser earned all-tournament honors after totaling 35 kills, 14 digs and nine block assists in three matches. She also posted a .206 hitting percentage.
Eastern 3, Catholic 1 (25-22, 22-25, 25-17, 25-23)
Connatser posted her first double double as a Cardinal with 12 kills and 10 digs, totaling seven kills and five digs in the decisive fourth set. Sophomore Olivia Blondin totaled a career-high 10 kills, including seven in the second set as Catholic overcame six ties and five lead changes to tie the match at 1-1.
Freshman Mya Sullivan totaled 27 assists, 14 digs and three block assists while junior Alycia Powers had 12 assists and five digs. Senior Caroline Kelly had 32 digs, two shy of her career high set at Marymount (Va.) on Sept. 6 and the third time in her career she has totaled 30 or more.
Freshman Brynne Burgess had a career-high 14 digs.
Eastern (15-1), who handed Stevenson its first conference loss in MAC Commonwealth Conference play since entering the league in 2012, was led by 14 kills from Logan Martin and 24 digs from Grace Will.
Gallaudet 3, Catholic 0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-22)
In the first of two meetings between the two teams this season, the Bison's Emily Wright and Karita Lewis combined for 35 of the team's 47 kills while posting a .325 hitting percentage.
Connatser led the Cardinals with eight kills and four block assists while Blondin added six kills and five digs. Burgess totaled another 13 digs with senior Mackenzie Collier adding 10.
Gallaudet limited Catholic to just 22 kills on 110 attempts as the Bison had 65 digs.
The Cardinals travel to Baltimore, Md. on Wednesday for a non-conference contest at Notre Dame (Md.). It will mark the first meeting between the two teams since Sept. 16, 2014 when Catholic posted a 3-0 victory at home.
