ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - The Catholic University women's rowing team officially started its spring schedule on Sunday against fellow Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference member Stockton.
The morning featured showers and fog with temperatures in the 50's and winds between 5-7 mph to the southeast before clearing.
The varsity eight started things off with a victory in a time of 5:19.5, edging out the Ospreys who crossed the line in 5:21.0. Stockton won the rematch in the second race, finishing in 5:11.70 while the Cardinals clocked in at 5:18.9.
The Ospreys won the varsity four with a time of 6:22.5 while Catholic finished in 6:41.60.
The teams also rowed in second varsity eight and novice four races, but neither was completed. Stockton lost a rudder in the second varsity eight and Catholic hit a piling in the novice four.
Catholic returns to racing next Saturday, April 17 against St. Mary's (Md.) at the James P. Muldoon River Center in St. Mary's City, Md.
