Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. - Catholic University women's soccer junior Liz Gorman scored two goals as the Cardinals closed out the 2021 season with a convincing 4-0 victory at Juniata Saturday.
Catholic (6-10-1, 1-6 LC) finished the season with five wins in seven road games while posting its second shutout.
Gorman scored multiple goals for the first time in her 32-game career as she finished with a career-high four points. She finished the season with three goals and seven points, both career highs.
In the final game of her career, senior Victoria Corte-Real scored what proved to be the game-winning goal just five minutes in off an assist from senior Taylor Porcello. The marker was the first goal and first points in the defender's 38-game career.
The Cardinals, who led 1-0 at halftime, added three more goals on 10 second-half shots, starting Gorman's first in the 78th minute. Just a minute and a half later, sophomore Katarina Bauer scored on an identical shot same to give Catholic a 3-0 advantage before Porcello found Gorman in the 83rd minute for the final tally.
Porcello finished the season with a team-high 15 points, tying her with sophomore Jordan Siok.
Freshman Maeve Graham got the start in goal and made one save before giving way to senior Marykate Stack in the 38th minute who finished off the shutout by making three second-half saves.
Juniata (6-6-4, 0-5-2 LC) was limited to just five shots, including one in the first 45 minutes.
