SCRANTON, Pa. - The Catholic University men's swimming & diving team defeated Scranton Saturday at the Byron Aquatic Center, 191-84.
In their second meet of the season, the Cardinals were led by junior Ellis Prescott who had three individual wins in the 500-yard freestyle, 1,000-yard freestyle and 200-yard individual medley.
The Cardinals also won both relays and placed first in both 1-meter and 3-meter diving.
The 2019 Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year and champion in the 1,650-yard freestyle, Prescott finished the 1,000 free in a time of 10:23.19. He also won the 500 free with a time of 5:01.60 and the 200 IM in 2:03.80.
The team of sophomore Jack Hufner, freshman Jackson Hicks, sophomore Nathan Ober and freshman William Crecca teammed up to finish first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:40.05 while Hufner, Hicks, Crecca and senior Alex Farley on the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:31.82.
Freshman Seth Greer finished first on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards, posting a score of 227.75 on the 1-meter and 206.55 on the 3-meter.
Meanwhile, senior Joe Keller earned his first career win after finishing first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.26.
The Cardinals swept the 1,000 free, 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard breaststroke. Freshman Michael Coppola finished second in the 1,000 free with a time of 10:41.22 while freshman Joseph Loel finished third, touching the wall in 11:18.25.
In the 100 back, Hufner finished first in a time of 56.16 seconds followed by senior Joshua Roberts at 56.81 seconds and sophomore Daniel O'Leary in third with a time of 1:01.31.
Ober finished first in the 100 breast with a time of 59.91 seconds while Hicks was second in 1:00.84 and Farley was third in 1:05.15.
The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, Nov. 13 in their home debut when they host Landmark Conference rival Goucher at 1 p.m.
