Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. - Catholic University women's soccer senior Marykate Stack made nine saves as the Cardinals fell to Susquehanna Saturday in a Landmark Conference contest at Carlini Field on Senior Day, 4-0.
Prior to today, Catholic (5-10-1, 0-6-0 LC) was unbeaten in four of its previous five meetings against the River Hawks who entered the game in second place in the Landmark Conference standings.
With a career-high 17 saves in Wednesday's loss to regionally-ranked Gettysburg, Stack has totaled 26 of her 41 saves this season over her last two starts.
Susquehanna (9-4-0, 5-1-0 LC) opened the scoring just 9:43 into the contest when Emily Wertz scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season after she dribbled into box and slotted the ball home into the right corner.
The River Hawks added a second marker with less than 10 minutes remaining in the half as Mikela Florio netted her first goal of the season off an assist from Anna Werner on a 2-on-1 in the box with Stack.
Gillian Maack scored on a free kick from 40 yards out in the 58th minute before Werner netted a goal of her own in 86th minute to cap the scoring.
Stack was one of five seniors the team honored in pregame ceremonies on Saturday, including Victoria Corte-Real, Taylor Porcello, Makinsey Jarboe and Leila Esposito.
The Cardinals conclude its 2021 season on the road at Juniata next Saturday, Oct. 30. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
