WASHINGTON, D.C. - Catholic University women's basketball sophomore Luca Mamula posted her second 20-point game of the season to lead four Cardinals in double figures as they opened Landmark Conference play with a 73-50 victory over Drew Saturday on Franny Murray Court.

Catholic (8-1, 1-0 LC) improved its record to 12-2 in Landmark Conference openers, including 7-1 at home, under head coach Matt Donohue. The Cards have also won five of six conference openers against Drew.

Mamula finished with 20 points, 14 of which came in the second half as the Cardinals outscored the Rangers, 41-28. It was her third career 20-point game and second this season after she had 21 points in a 75-54 win at St. Mary's (Md.) on November 19.

Freshman Erin Doherty scored 13 points, one shy of her career high, while adding seven rebounds.

Senior Sydney Poindexter totaled her fourth double double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds while sophomore Amanda Johnson scored 11 points, to go along with three rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Catholic led 32-22 at halftime before opening the second half on a 16-5 run to take a 21-point lead, 48-27, with 5:50 remaining in third quarter. Mamula (8) and Doherty (5) combined for 13 of the team's 24 third-quarter points while Poindexter added four points and three rebounds.

The Cardinals were 18-of-28 from the floor in the second half and forced 13 turnovers while holding the Rangers (5-2, 0-1 LC) to just 11-of-26 shooting.

Catholic led for all but 2:56 while scoring 34 points in the paint, 21 off turnovers and 23 from the bench.

The Cards return to action next Saturday, December 14 when they host Gallaudet beginning at 4 p.m.
