Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic University field hockey team's 2019 season came to an end Wednesday night after losing 2-1 to Susquehanna University in the Landmark Conference semifinals.
The first quarter turned up scoreless after Catholic outshot Susquehanna, 3-0.
In the second, a foul on the Cardinals in the circle produced a penalty stroke where the River Hawks found the back of the cage to take a 1-0 lead with just under six minutes remaining.
In the third quarter, senior forward Katie Anderson redirected a pass from junior midfielder Meghan Shallow to tie the game at 1-1. Anderson's goal marked her team-leading 12th of the season and extended her point streak to seven-straight games.
With 10:49 left in the fourth, Susquehanna was able to net its second goal of the night when Hunter Pitman scored her team-leading 20th goal of the season.
Sophomore Maysen Elliott was required to make just one save for the Cardinals who outshot the River Hawks, 19-4, including 15-1 through the first three quarters,
Susquehanna, the defending conference champion, will travel to top-seeded Scranton on Saturday in rematch of the 2018 Landmark Conference championship game.
