Cardinals Edged by No. 3 Salisbury at Home, 1-0

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Catholic University field hockey team was defeated by No. 3 Salisbury Wednesday at Cardinal Stadium, 1-0.

The Cardinals (4-6) fell to the Sea Gulls for the first time in the last five meetings at home.

Salisbury (9-1), who entered the game having outscored its opponents 34-6 while posting four shutouts, did not score until the fourth quarter when Meghan Jolikko scored her third goal of the season, unassisted, with 12:08 remaining.

Sophomore Maysen Elliott made a career-high eight saves, eclipsing her previous career high of seven set in a 6-0 loss at No. 8 Johns Hopkins on Sept. 14. Sophomore Carly Philbin and sophomore Caleigh McGough each had two defensive saves.

The Sea Gulls outshot the Cardinals, 20-1.

Catholic resumes conference play on Saturday when they travel to Drew beginning at 1 p.m.
