Cardinals Drop Close Game at Gettysburg

Box Score

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The No. 17 Catholic University of America field hockey team dropped a close 2-1 nonconference match against Gettysburg College on the road Wednesday.

Senior Graceton Griffith scored the first goal, unassisted, 14 minutes into the game. The goal was her first since Oct. 15, 2016, when she scored two goals against Moravian College after missing all last season with an injury.

The Bullets responded with a goal 18 minutes later to end the first half at a 1-1 tie.

The Cardinals had a strong second half performance, outshooting Gettysburg 12-3. They could not hold on, though, as the Bullets scored on a penalty corner with no time left on the clock.

Junior Katie Anderson and Griffith led the team in shots on goal with three each. Sophomore goalie Kim McGroary recorded three saves in the match.

The Cardinals return home on Saturday, September 8 against Rowan at 1 p.m.
